The price of freedom
Promotion dangled in front of me
I work for a Fortune 500 company in a frontline sales position. I’ve worked for the company for six years now. Recently, in hopes of moving up, my family and I moved to a new city and settled down. Fast forward a few months and the company opened some positions above me. The position included a management title and a pay bump. I applied and the interview process went really well. They said I was a great fit and congratulated me on the new role. My family was ecstatic. They gave me a start date and told me an offer letter was coming any day. A week before my scheduled start date, an offer letter still had not come. I got a call from a member of upper management to inform me that they would not be going forward with promotions right now. Despite our area being short staffed, record…
I had two jobs last year for a pizza place and a school cafeteria. The pizza place lasted about 6 months before I quit over them lowering my hours and stuff to the point I couldn't afford rent. The school job I got fired after me and my fiance was nearly killed and I was shook up mentally that day. That's when I decided to try delivering with Uber And GH. Being able to set my own hours has lead to so much less stress because if I'm sick I can call off whenever. I make more per hour than I did at a normal job. I'm happy with it. However, friends of mine are complaining because it's not “a real job.” Just because I'm not working for some shitty boss or a shitty corporation doesn't mean it's not real. They are saying it's unreliable and the list goes on.…
What did they expect
Got this in the mailbox. I laughed.
Tactics of the United Front
We have hitherto avoided discussion of tactics in the abstract. But it is necessary to understand thoroughly the tactic of the United Front, which is fundamental to any understanding of the history of Communist revolutions after 1923. Misunderstanding of it was at the root of the failure in Germany in 1923, in China in 1925–27, and, most catastrophic of all, in Germany in 1929–1933. It is being shamefully abused today. Yet it remains a basic tactic for any revolutionary Socialist Party. Without a thorough realisation of all its dangers, the party that attempts it will be lost in a swamp of opportunism. On the other hand, without it there can be no success. It is based on the fact that except at moments of very high tension in national affairs, moments which though long in preparation are of comparatively short duration, a Communist Party is likely to be a definite…
I told my friend that I was interested in the customer success specialist and customer success manager (account manager) roles at his company. He sent my resume to the recruiters, and I had a phone screen and then a couple Zoom interviews. The company’s interview info said I was interviewing for the customer success MANAGER roles. They initially scheduled me for three interviews (1. Just two employees 2. Employee and the hiring manager 3. Just the hiring manager), but it ended up being two (1. Just two employees 3. Just the hiring manager) but it ended up taking the whole time, anyway, which seems good. Then the hiring manager said HR/recruiting would reach out in the next few days, and she ended the conversation by saying “We look forward to talking with you soon.” I sent thank you notes to everyone immediately afterward, and the two CSMs who interviewed me…

4 Day Work Week
Do you think the 4 day work week is good? I was thinking it was good considering the additional time off. But a friend of mine made some arguments why it's not. They argued that companies will pay you the same hourly but you have one work day less thus resulting in you making less money, which could cause some people having to work two jobs for more money thus making people having to work more hours. They also talked about that companies will start to hire more part time workers instead of full-time because now hiring two workers with slightly less hours is less costly due to the lower range gap of hours of a fulltime vs part time employee. It. Pretty much they made some good points. But I feel like a 4 day work week is good for our health and life to work balance. What do…
