A different strike

I'm a firm believer that shit needs to change. Costs are soaring beyond our reach and we have boots to our throats, but it isn't just the employers and companies to blame; I don't feel represented by my government anymore. We've all heard talk about the great resignation, strikes and planned walk-outs, but I don't believe that's feasible for the average American. We're already in debt, we can't afford to stop working, go hungry and homeless. So I offer a hypothetical. What if we stopped paying income tax to incite change? I know it's realistically tax fraud, but what if as many of us as possible claimed 9 and refused to file until we felt represented? Could the IRS realistically go after that many Americans? The government is ultimately what's allowing employers take advantage of us to such a degree. What's stopping us from having a new age Boston Tea…

Show of hands…

How many single dads out there are at a job they are unhappy at and unable to change it because they are shoe horned into paying support and if they don’t pay they fear the consequences? I watched my x quit her job and do whatever made her happy. I was denied more time with my child because I didn’t have a flexible schedule because of work. The standards were very one sided in the friend of the court system and that shook me.

Nothing will change until we band together

Like i said. We have grown up or always existed in this insane situation. I am probably one of a handful that still receive a pension for my time, but due to the practices of large corporations since the late 70's early 80's there is no way to accumulate wealth in order to retire in an orderly fashion. We are expected to work well into our 60's and hope that the elite have made us a pittance to live due to 401k or roth IRA's. Now is the time to rise up and evict the elite from Washington to show them that the status quo of the past 40 to 60 years they have been in office, does not work for the populace. Come together as US citizens and vote out the chaff to create a better world in our future or god help our children, Condemned to indentured servitude.

Ya’ll quit wrong

I am, fortunately, doing well, but I truly empathize with people in this subreddit. Assholes of the world take advantage of good natured people; most people here are good natured and are thus often taken advantage off. It seems as though there is a “rage-quit” story here every day. Some rude / disrespectful low/middle management type says / does something completely out of line and then the anti-work redditor rage-quits and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. What should you do? Quit, but don't tell anyone. Let them believe you're coming in. Let them think that you're almost there, that your car broke down, etc. Take FMLA time. Use every possible excuse in the book. Document document document. And then when they fire you for legal abscences, file complaints with the state labor boards….

I don’t want to go into work today

I really don’t want to go into work today because there was situation with my boss that makes me nervous, embarrassed and uncomfortable. I’ve been looking for volunteer work today in place of my current position. I’ve also been invited to start a position today at a new job whose pay is questionable. I’m not sure what to do. Should I suck it up and go to work, find volunteer work to do all day, or take a gamble and start my new position?

Sometimes they just don’t care

This isn't about me, or even a rage, more for your understanding. Where I work, we have 3 different teams under one manager, 2 teams a specialised and 1 is general, each teams consisting of about 8 – 12 people. The general team has an extremely high turn over, with people staying on average of 6-12 months (5 have left in the past 6 alone). I approached our manager about the issue with everyone leaving and told them it was due to the generalists getting paid 20K less then industry standard their response was to the effect “it isn't a specialised job and whilst more people are applying it isn't an issue” and “it's a stepping stone, they're just going to move to another company for more money” 🤦 Our manager knows they're underpaying workers, doesn't care. Know your worth and look out for yourself, as no one else will.…

Making a graphic novel about work rights in the US, are there anythings you’d want to see specifically?

I want to make a persuasive graphic novel for art class about the failures of capitalism or how the current system fails the working people Anyways, so far I'm thinking of following a 30 year old who is working multiple jobs yet struggling to pay bills. They want to start a family but cannot afford so, and maybe the story ends with them working to death I know “work troubles” comics are all over the internet but I want to do something with a bit more story. The thing is I'm pretty young and ignorant so please let me know if this idea is stupid lol. Any ideas for what kind of story would get the message across best?

Quit my job, feeling great

So I began working at a digital communications firm on December and I have had the WORST professional experience of my life. My boss has been a complete incompetent asshole. A middleman who thinks too much of himself. I have seen him altering documents for clients, he has no idea what the work I did at the company was about and the man has actually 0 communications skills, overworking me and giving me tasks I have no idea how to do on a daily basis while dealing with close deadlines. Absolutely disgusting. As soon as I quit I felt light af and as if I had just gotten my life back. Stand strong and don't let dumbasses damage your mental and emotional health. There is always something better.
