I had an interview recently for an inside sales position, after which I received an invitation for a second interview. That’s a good sign, I thought to myself. When I attended the second interview, it was to inform me they decided to do away with the position I applied to (which had a base salary plus commission opportunities), but instead wanted to offer the position as commission only if the higher-ups approved. The whole thing felt kinda bait-and-switchy, so I didn’t continue any further with them, but was wondering how common this was, if anybody else had experienced something similar.

I quit my job in August of last year after a serious mental break and a real look around at what this career was doing to me. For eight months, I've been hustling to find a job but the only offer I got was… for the same thing I was doing before but for slightly more money. The kicker though is that although I fought tooth and nail for a semi-reasonable shift, I'm now being told that might not be possible and they may be randomly assigned me to another shift like 4 in the morning on weekends. This is not an exaggeration either. It's literally an option. I told my recruiter that I would quit if I had to work that and now she's trying to pressure me into “trying it for a few weeks, just to see how it goes” and that “it would look great on a…
Calling themselves stupid
Venting Gen x manager here, I have a few gen z employees that when they make a simple mistake, will say they made a dumb/stupid/idiot mistake. This is one of my trigger expressions, where I instantly respond, you're not stupid/dumb/idiot, you are very smart and still learning. I then say that you have a learning experience here on how to correct said mistake, and if possible find a way to improve the process for the rest of the team. So lesson for everyone, never underestimate yourself, everyone makes mistakes, just some of us learned from them a while ago.
Came back and worked a week before realizing that it’s the job that effects my mental health and makes me want to kill myself. I told my manager that I fear my well-being continuing to work and gave a 2 day’s notice, she asks me why I couldn’t give a two weeks, then guilts me about leaving the team short handed. when a few days ago when I was crying in her office she told me that we just sell bread, that they could handle themselves without me and that I needed to take care of myself first. I’m leaving today. Making me work 10 hours days, picking up for people who call out knowing It’s affecting my school work and making me fall behind is bullshit.
My wife works for a company that is a smaller construction company, that goes through people and then rehire for the same roll on a almost monthly basis. Every single one of them leaves due to more pay somewhere else. When they get told this they say “would you rather work for ……. Or here where you can have fun”? What type of argument even is that? How can you say that with a straight face even.

You want me to work overnight? Bye.
This was about a year ago but I'm super proud of this moment. I was a hotel housekeeper and laundry attendant. For two years I worked for this shit hole. When I started it was tolerable. 5 months in they hired a new manager and housekeeping department fell apart. She was so rude. Threatened write ups for things out of our control. Super passive aggressive and nit picky too. Within 2 months, over half of the longtime staff left. She was relocated after a year and a half but the department was ruined. The extra work was piled onto the rest of us. Me being an overachiever I bent over backwards. Showed up an hour earlier than everyone and left an hour after, including the manager. Did this to catch up on laundry which was a two person job but i did it solo. I did it so that the…
