Contractors, if they’re not committed to you don’t commit to them

Yeah so I saw this coming light years away, and I’m writing this for those who see corporate office as a heavenly end goal in career. There’s a huge segregation between a full time employee and contractor, contractor will get you “with the team” fast but don’t assume you’re actually a part of something. I’ve seen HUGE segregation between the two, and some that seem nonexistent, but don’t get confused. You’re not a part of anything I’m a contractor cause corporate America loves the work hates the commitment (giving benefits and all), but they expect you to suffice with base pay and nothing more. This business was known from my contractor to have a fast conversion rate (going from contract to full time) except while every FTE was talking about promotion and movement I didn’t see any talk about where I’m going. I’ve made my effort, I wanted to prove my worth I asked for more responsibilities any chance I could or guidance from the manager to see what I can do to go places. Nothing, “your numbers will reflect your skills/efforts” heard that before and wasted 3 years. I’ve seen FTE’s fuck up big and they’re typically treated better cause they don’t want to lose them for god knows why
Anyways, as contractor, just understand that you’re temp. That’s it, no matter what you’re never fully a part of the team and they can throw you out faster than a used toothpick. No referrals, write ups, warnings, just blip and you’re gone. Seen it happened to a lot of people but never thought it’d be me. I’m just glad I was already applying elsewhere during company time
