Texas State Employees Union has begun enrolling service members on state active duty in Texas after the DOJ recently said in a court filing that a federal law prohibiting military unions does not apply to soldiers on state active duty. To our knowledge, this is the first time in american history that a union has enrolled service members in their military capacities. This comes after thousands of soldiers were involuntarily activated by Gov. Greg Abbott for Texas' border mission, Operation Lone Star. In addition to a string of recent suicides, soldiers on the mission have complained of poor living conditions, pay issues, equipment shortages, reduced benifits, and political motivations for their activation. Update: Texted my bosses boss
I work alone as a salaried employee. My coworkers at the sister office said I can go home when there’s no more work at the office I’ll be at. Wanted word from my boss who told me that when work is done, ask if anyone in the office needs help and if not then I’m good to go. Today, I got done before noon. There were no more appointments, no help needed, so I left. I told the front desk I was heading out. I got a call just now that the front desk needed me because some work showed up. Initially I was taken aback, and tried to rationalize that the circumstances are different since the company I work for is so small. After many long chats with family and friends, I know my work experience and time is valuable and I deserve to be compensated as such. So…
The parents will hate and blame them but it's the only way to get this horrible poverty loop some attention.
I got a 2.2% raise yesterday
I told my boss I have recruiters reaching out to me with 40-50% base increases, not including absurd bonus targets, fully remote jobs to lower my cost of living and this firm comes back to me with 2.2%?! In this inflation?! Cool. Bye. I have a second round interview tomorrow and have 5 recruiters in my inbox in the last 24 hours. Bye!
