Couldn't think of anywhere else to post this, & figured y'all would be as upset/shocked as I am about this. I'm in my last year of secondary/high school in the US. Today, as the rest of the school was choosing their classes for next year, they took everyone in our grade into the auditorium to talk to us. The first day (there were 2 days of this) was just basically “get a summer job it's good” & showing places locally we could work for. Today, the second day, it was solely trying to recruit students to work for the school district next year, after we've graduated. It was a lot of “oh if you want to be a nurse, you should be the school nurse!” or “you should be a custodian!” type stuff & telling us what they did. The last thing the parasite class could tolerate would be a united population of working class people. Yes, we need rights for everyone regardless of their gender, orientation, race or disability status. When the class struggle is won, we will all have equal rights, and we will not be divided against each other. The natural state of humanity is not division and conflict, but community and cooperation.

Found out yesterday that a right-wing boomer I worked with died after having a stroke late last week. I work in the public sector (Gen X) and had the unpleasant experience of working next to him in the late 2000s. He was basically the right-wing archetype, an under educated guy who secured a cushy job based on his social connections and who had zero empathy for anyone outside of his tribe. He watched Fox News/listened to Rush Limbaugh and railed against the government/socialism, while simultaneously sucking off the government teat. After a 33 year long career, which was spent entirely in the public sector, he somehow managed to amass $4 million in his retirement savings account and was looking forward to retirement next year with a generous public pension. My living situation is pretty simple. I have no pets, no kids, and one romantic partner. I also have no loans, and I rent. So him and I pretty much split the costs of living and pay for our own food and phone bills. As a result, I don't need a lot of money to make ends meet, so I've been saving a bit. My work has decided we need a morale boost. I think that meets their quota for being right once a year. Now, they could offer us more money, though if they did that, the shock might give me a heart attack, so I can see why they don't do that. They are just looking out for my health. So I work as a social worker at a nursing home specifically long term residents. Today I had essentially a medicaid application/ legal document pushed on me to complete with a resident by the business office woman who doesn’t want to do her own job today because she’s “sick and isn’t even supposed to be here”. I literally couldn’t complete this if I tried and was told “well it’s your job”. I have never done this before so this is news to me. Plus, we need a notary to complete this. Business office woman is one, won’t do it because of above reasoning. Two other notaries in the building read the paperwork and said no not signing it. So this is a throwaway account because some of my coworkers know my reddit. tl;dr at end. This is a lot. Background here. I am very good at my job. I make the company a lot of money. I am friends with the Nars brand reps, and they value and respect me since I am very knowledgable and good. We have even gone out a couple of times. I have made connections.
