I see a lot of posts about quitting via no show or text with little or no notice. Sure, I’ve been there and personally only reserved that treatment for true bosses from hell or situations where more extreme. However, if its just a matter of moving onto a better opportunity, higher pay, or maybe you hate the job but nobody outright WRONGED you. Maybe the job is just too stressful. Man those final 10 days after you give notice are like the last week of high school for seniors. Fucking glorious. Back to back zoom meetings, yeah declined. Some report I’m responsible for pulling, yeah can you pull that I dont have access. No worries, no stress the easiest money since orientation. Plus, if you’ve made any friends you’ll be getting lots of well wishes and good vibes. If you hate everyone there you get the pleasure of having the…
GOT A JOB AFTER 7 MONTHS
Hi everybody. I’ve been jobless since July and it’s been really really difficult on my mental health. I wanted to settle so many times and just take the first job I got but everything was so underpaid that I knew I would be even more mad at myself putting myself in a shit circumstance again. You all have inspired me to not give up and work on finding a job with the pay grade that I DESERVE for the qualification I have. I got so much confidence from this forums suggestions on what to ask a straight to my interviewers face which left them shocked but impressed.(why should I work for you). They appreciated me being upfront of what I expected out of my job. I am now making 20k more starting, with full benefits and a sign on bonus. This job prioritizes mental health for their employees which was…
Now, we'll need to get almost everyone on earth on board with this, otherwise there will ways to cheat. Here's the idea: if your net worth goes above one billion dollars, you can be hunted for sport.
It has been a few years, but I believe this story might fit here. A few years ago, I was a wide eyed and somewhat naive student looking to go into human resource management to improve life for all employees. I was fascinated by research that proved how trusting your employees and giving them more freedom could often be very beneficial to a company, even from a purely financial viewpoint. When I got the chance to do an internship for a company, I happily took it. Even if it was on the smallest scale, I might make someones life better. At the same time, I wanted to discuss all these amazing new insights with people who worked in the field. Did you know how asking people to do overtime often reduces their overall productivity? How simple rewards for above average performance both boosts overall performance, reduces sick leave and increases…
I just gave my 2 weeks notice. Yay me!
I feel so good already. I have been with that company for 13 years. The environment got worse and worse each year. The company continued to pile on more work each year while making record profits. They took away my bonus this past year that was based on company performance. I got paid 8k less last year than I did my previous 2 years. While at the end of year meeting, our companies growth was so huge they literally had rocketships as part of the background for sales presentations.
Promotion As A Carrot On A Stick
Long story short, my boss has been dangling a promotion in my face for about 6 months now. I was told the promotion would happen in January, but they pushed it to March so it would be “on cycle.” Come to find out that it’s being pushed again to May so that it’s, “on cycle.” When I confronted my boss about it, they told me that I should bear some responsibility for my inaccurate expectation because they’re new to the company and I apparently should know when promotions and raises occur according to the corporate schedule. Keep in mind that the last one I received was an off cycle promotion in 2020. My most recent pay bump was in early 2021 to the tune of 3% lol. Meanwhile my boss has, of course, been shoving projects down my throat that meet the future job description. And when I confronted them…
Normally I don’t mind working an extra shift on Saturday because hey its extra money and I don’t totally hate my job (construction insepctor). I told them I’m helping family move out tomorrow so I can’t do it but they keep trying to ask me to “step up and help out”. Funny how they always forget all the hundreds of times you’ve sacrificed for them when they want more from you. I’m helping my mother-in-law move out of her apartment and into her new one. I can’t reschedule and she’s been expecting me to help her out for weeks (she lives alone and is extremely anxious about moving all the heavy furniture). It’s put such a bad taste in my mouth I honestly never want to “step up” and help this company ever again. It’s not my fault that they take on more projects than we can realistically handle. I…
