What is the minimum amount of time you can work for an employer and still get a (positive) recommendation from them?

I have a longer post I've been meaning to write, but the short of it is that my work environment has become unbearable (weird home office environment, inappropriate boss, no HR department). I am paid so little that each day is a struggle to show up. I just found a suitable job paying almost 40% more and am chomping at the bit to apply. The problem is that I was a NEET before this, so I don't have anyone else who can write a recommendation letter for me. How long would you stay for a recommendation?

Year review on Wednesday

Looking for advice on how to handle myself and potentially get the biggest raise I can get. Just some background I work in the funeral industry and this Wednesday marks my year within the company. My day consists of cremating eight to twelve bodies along with some removals and drop offs. Typically I do most of the paperwork and come in early or stay late. I am one of four employees who work in the crematory. I am not physically strong (often needing help with larger bodies) but I am very detailed oriented. I currently am making 15.50$ but am hoping to get 17.50$. I get no health benefits or 401k.

Last paycheck deposited and withdrawn

How should I approach this? My employer provided a sign on incentive which I was obligated to payback if I left before the stated term. I did not stay the term and anticipated returning the money. My last paycheck was deposited Friday and then immediately withdrawn by the employer. The reason provided today is the sign on bonus terms. The paycheck was significantly more than the bonus amount. How legal is this? I’m in NJ. What is the best approach here?

Should I expect rejection emails?

I am currently applying to internships as it is required for my degree program. I have applied to maybe 7 internships so far and I have been waiting for a few weeks to hear back. Do you think it is proper etiquette for a position to notify me if I have not been chosen? Personally, I think it's rude to not let applicants know – especially after having to make cover letters, video interviews, writing samples, etc. And how long should I wait before sending a follow up email?

A reddit tale of someone who’s worked retail on the lowest ends for 20 years

https://www.reddit.com/r/ProRevenge/comments/ss241z/how_mrs_reliable_got_her_douchebag_of_a_boss_fired/ Revenge is had by only doing the job they pay her for, and then quitting. This story should never happen. No one should work as an entry level retail worker for their entire career.

I have just been offered two different pay systems today, i am not sure which one to pick, so i thought best would be to ask you guys to help me pick the best option

I do project based work for a private company, they are offering me to either get paid a base amount “B” dollars every month plus 150-200 dollars project bonus upon completing my project within that month OR a base amount “B + 150 dollars” and no bonuses. But here is the catch, they also promoted me to a lead position of a small team but the team has no experience so most of my time at work is spent teaching and i have less time to complete my project. If i dont complete that project at the end of the month i wont get the bonus. There is a chsnce that i complete multiple projects on that month and get multiple bonuses. Boss heavily suggests i pick the bonus option since i might do more projects and both of us gain more, but i feel like i might not be…

Anyone else on here work for HomeAdvisor or Angi?

I’ve worked here for 5 years and can’t get a raise past $14.70. I’ve only gotten a $.70 raise in the past five years. I can’t quit because I’ve got a surgery coming up and I can’t lose my insurance. I wish we could strike to get raises, but idk how to organize something like that… Does anyone know of any call centers that have unionized or striked for raises?
