In America, we portray the politically influential rich elite in other countries, especially Russia, as oligarchs who nefariously work to deprive their fellow countrymen through their connections and their wealth. How are Bezos, Musk, etc. functionally any different, and why should we treat them any differently?

These things are built already. Lets just live in them.
I’ve got nothing but love for this sub.
I don't have a exciting text message or video screenshot to tell you. But what I do have is my dignity, and self respect back. Something which I deeply lost during my time at my previous job. I worked for a very big company in the United Kingdom. Obviously I won't name it, nor will I list the type of work it was. That's not me being a dick, it's just I don't want it to backfire on me, as I have a very good standing with one of my supervisors still ( who went out of his way to protect me in the job) I was hired on a 8 hour contract with the premise being that I could do overtime and get more hours etc etc. During the summer I took a few people's shifts to show my manager that I was dedicated and loyal to the job…
I lead a three person department. One of them is the best employee you could ever ask for who prepares the work for our stage of production. The other is an apprentice who was hired to do the same role as me. Due to supply chain issues, the workload reached a point where I could shoulder it alone. The apprentice was moved to a different department with the intention of covering days I have off or when the work flow increases again. That means he's worked 3 days in the past 4-5 months in the role he was hired for. A while back I found out the apprentice was hired at rate very close to mine. So I started planning on asking for a raise, I have years more experience after all. This got me thinking about what amount I felt I am worth. Originally came up with 4%, but…
There are women and teenagers getting shot in the head in these retail outlets. A union is fine and dandy, but unless the culture changes so that abusive customers are kicked out, you won't attract workers! No sane person would risk their life and risk not being able to see their children again for a few extra bucks an hour. I know people here hate the police, but there's got to be some type of action here. Call the cops, call a lawyer, call somebody if you get threatened at work. Why is it so taboo? Why are people demonized for suggesting you call the cops if someone threatens to rape or kill you at work? it's like the conservatives and liberals both suck here.
Post from europe
Guys I have seen a lot of posts and the most common problem in USA is that you have to pay for medical bills but you can't. As a European I don't have this problem, my mind can't fucking understand why people in your country aren't pushing for this? How can be normal that if you have your job you can go to the hospital and get treated but if you don't have any occupation and you need a surgeon they're not gonna do that. I mean what are they gonna do? Leaving you dieing in the streets? What's this? A third world country?
