I started a new Job 2.5 months ago. I am a graphic designer and I have worked in 3 agencies before. I had my evaluation talk today with my bosses and they aren't happy with my performance so they want to extend my probation for 1 month. The past 2.5 months I gave my 150 -200% and even worked at the office while my country had a mandatory home office law. I worked on a lot of projects and got good feedback from coworkers and clients. But as a newbie I took my time with some project because it was impossible to deliver the best quality without having done some research. But for the company I took too much time so they are making a loss with me. They told me if I give my everything next month and spend less time on projects I might pass. But giving 200%…

For context, I’m doing a semester-long journalism project as part of a class, and I wanted to look into this subreddit’s impact. If you do reply, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! 🙂
In two weeks my contract will expire, im getting replaced by a new intern, it wasn't the best job but I really loved the freedom it gave me, 4 days working from home, 1 day at the office, only 6 hours gave me enough money to help my mom pay rent for both of us and with the amount of stuff that went on in my family i've never been able to learn how to drive, we don't even have a family car or a home to call ours, so this was perfect. but i was never able to save up, last month i had to give up my whole paycheck in rent and expenses because my mom doesn't get paid regularly. Now im getting replaced by someone that gets paid 500 euros a month because they have to fill a new office and im unable to find another job…
I've been working at Alorica, Inc. For over a year at this point, and aside from the unprofessional environment, constantly shifting goalposts, and unhelpful resources, the final straw for me came when I started having trouble with the equipment provided to me. I have been going back and forth with our tech support chat because the pcs they send me do not work properly, so I have to keep getting new equipment. This would not be a problem, but the company flat out stated to me that the time that I'm waiting on THEM to send me equipment that is NOT checked for QA purposes is unpaid. So the number of hours I made went from 40+ to less than 10 hours a week due to not being compensated for their faults. When I talked with my supervisor regarding this I got the advice that since Alorica will not provide…
So, I've been working in a hospital kitchen for the last three and a half years and it's been the most dispiriting grind I've ever participated in. Everyone is miserable. The hours suck, the work is stressful, and the manager, who rarely deigns to work in the kitchen herself, may be a sociopath. The problem is that the pay is good (relative to Indiana), and the only thing that'll kill your dreams faster than an unexpected pregnancy or a sudden illness, is a steady paycheck. The steady paycheck is how I've been making myself miserable. By not taking risks, I've fallen into the habits of overcompensating for overwork on my days off by sleeping too much, staying up too late, overeating, and putting off what I actually WANT to do with my life. I like writing. I've been told I'm good at it. I want to narrate. I've been told…
Can’t afford to miss work
My stomach feels like it got gut punched and I feel out of it but I keep muttering to myself about how I can’t afford to miss work . Because if I miss work then I won’t be able to pay for food or rent. I shouldn’t have to worry about not being able to have a roof over my head or food in my belly. This isn’t right.
They are not servers but they do hand food products over a counter, or work a register. They are paid 6 dollars an hour and a share of tips. Obviously their salary always exceeds minimum wage with the tips, but I find this very shady. It is the sort of job where you would expect everyone in there is *at least* getting paid minimum wage, probably guess they get paid a little more. So when customers come in and tip, they think they are giving these workers a bonus. Instead the owner only pays them 6 dollars an hour and lets the tip jar supplement their salary. ** Edit: Minimum wage is 7.25 an hour Thoughts? I am sure this is legal, but it seems sketchy af to me? yes no?
Am I really asking for that much?
I’ve been lurking in this sub for awhile now and I finally have something to add to this sub. For the past 7 months I’ve been going to technical school to learn machining and I really enjoy it but I’m starting to get fed up with the bootlicking my teacher is pushing. A guy who finished this class which is a year long was making 16 an hour without any overtime. He gets him a new job at a shop that does parts for NASA and has 20 CNC machines and they’re gonna start him at 18 an hour. I tell my teacher 18 is not enough for a guy with a year of school under his belt and a little experience, it should be more like 20 out of school, especially when guys who drive a forklift are making 20 with maybe a year of experience. He proceeded to…
I am not in an industry where I am usually cleaning up messes in bathrooms, let alone my boss’s shit. Think office type job. Nor am I really opposed to cleaning up messes – you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. But this was too much and definitely not my job. But this wasn’t in the bathroom. Oh no, this was in the middle of the office floor. First off, let’s get something straight: I despise this man. From the very beginning of my job he would belittle me and expected me to read his mind when it came to doing work for him bc he rarely ever gave me something to do, then complains that I’m not looking out for the company when I’ve been working pretty damn hard to do what I was brought on to do. Not to mention he spouts republican bullshit about the left…
