I worked as a delivery driver because it save me access to a car which I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise and I needed to get my partner to work because we can't afford the commute. They charge me £200 a week for it out of my wages, I also didn't get anything for fuel either. They kept saying there wasn't work for me in the main depot so would send me across the country to places several hours away and have my first drop an hour from that. Then they change my hours for no reason so I was starting at noon but still had my 9 hour shift not including the 5 hour drive to get there and back because I couldn't afford to not take the work. Then there just wasn't any work and they had me poking two days a week, bearing in mind they…
This probably isn't the right place to ask this but idk where else to ask lol. Basically I'm in school and work 4-10 (store closes at 9 so I've never even worked the full 6 hours yet) since it's a 6 hour shift I'm given a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. To me this seems kind of pointless and since I'm never working the full shift I figured I might as well just not go on my lunch to make up for lost time. I was told that I'm supposed to go on my break and that I'm “cheating the system” by just staying and continuing to work? So is it legally required for me to take my lunch? I'm in Manitoba btw. I'm probably in the wrong just wanted to get confirmation.
job won’t demote me
Sorry for the format. So I manage a tire shop and recently I stirred the pot about wages which caused an uproar that my area director drove down to my store to chew me out. The issue, my guys keep asking for raises because I encourage my guys all the time to fight for what they are worth and he was infuriated that I would do such a thing. Of course I played stupid because one thing I learned is always play stupid till you figure out what is going on. So my punishment is that I have to transfer my position to another store next town over, which I refused and asked to be demoted instead to a store next door to my house because it be more convenient for me. They have been arguing with me that I not going to be demoted I HAVE to run the…
This was a “zero hours” (minimum 4 hours per week) part time job straight out of university (I’m from the U.K. for some context) in a shop called sports direct, basically a sports wear shop that mostly sells trainers and some other tracksuits etc. I’ve just applied for and “got” the job alongside 15 other people, this kind of business is one that has a huge turnover of employees like myself at the time, people fresh out of education and needing something to get by, the turnover is so high also because the job itself is awful, you have to work in a shop heaving with shoppers who are all snapping at you to get things they want, from start of the shift till the end, you never stop being balls to the wall busy To make matters worse the “management” consists solely of people who were like you a…

“This is Gertrude, my fiancé. I missed our wedding, honeymoon, and divorce. She died cause of loneliness…” In my 26 years, like Montgomery Burns, I lost 4 friends and 11 buddies, woman I loved, my aunt, uncle and grandma’s funerals due to hard working. It wasn’t a big deal, I have money and paying all checks, will call them later. For now, none of them will answer my call. Someone just hate me, someone is dead. Greed. Greed is good. But it’s cold deep dark void that drains you and later you starting to love it, because you don’t have anything else.
Advice please
So I work in a halfway decent environment, not awful but also not where I wanna be. Anyways turns out one of my colleagues and (retail fwiw) has apparently been telling associates (we hold lower management rolls) that I said something to make him so mad he hates me. I’m not bothered by him hating me, but I am bothered he’s involving more severely underpaid employees that have no business in his personal drama, an associate was the one to tell me about this. I have no idea what I could’ve said to make him hate me, nor do I care, he should’ve taken it up with HR if it’s that bad. What actions am I able to take in order for him to realize that what he did was unethical? Would it be within my rights to bring this issue to HR? TLDR: Not sure how, but made someone…
