Former Employer Calls Current Employer

Was working in a place where nepotism was the thing. I was not a nepotism hire, so I got all the bs from the boss. Then, thanks to you guys, I quit. I am now working in a great place. My current boss tells me my former boss calls her to warn her about me. I. Am. Flabbergasted. Thank goodness my current employer sees my value as a person and as an employee. Sad thing is, I feel bad that people do stuff like this to hurt other people. In all honesty, words of encouragement would help me.

Manager tells my personal business to others

Sorry in advance I’m not the greatest story teller. Anyways, when I was 18 I worked at this Job where The girl who trained me, which in this I’ll call her Jenna, was super nice to me when I first started. She’d always talk to me, act like a close friend and all that. But I realized she was ALWAYS talking badly about another new employee that started right before me. She’d constantly put him down and tell me that I’m doing so much better than he is. I was always really nice to him, he was a really nice guy and honestly worked really hard. He ended up quitting not long after, and that’s when she turned her anger (I guess?) towards me. All of a sudden she acted like I was the WORST employee ever. Which side note, everyone knew I worked really hard and was a good…

I have to find someone else who can work for me if I’m sick

So it's in the Netherlands u can't ask someone to work for you I'd your sick it's a rule all supermarket should know and the managers. But they just don't care, I'm so sick I can't do anything. I called to the manager and she got so mad, they don't understand that if your sick your sick. They only do this with me if someone else is sick they just let them be and don't have to find someone to replace them. I'm getting so disrespect, I had a huge conflict with that manager bc she doesn't know human rules like how dumb is she. I deserve to have sick rights

I finally figured out why I was never happy working

So disclaimer first, this is my first reddit post so excuse me if I make some errors in formatting. Also this ones a bit ranty. Im a 33m i followed the rules set out by my schooling, im in the UK, so after GCSEs i did my A levels. Following the trend at the time I studied an Engineering degree because it was sold as high demand and highly paid. Im sure many other engineers will agree in 2012 that wasnt the case, the market was saturated. So after a while working basic office jobs I decided to upskill and study a masters degree and eventually got working in a related field. Anyway despite achieving what was in theory the goal of my education my work only served to make me miserable. I love science and engineering, and did enjoy the technical aspects of my job but I was just…

a few months ago i applied to a bunch of places that claimed to be super short staffed and were essentially begging for people to apply. problem is i was a minor with no past experience. only one of them didn’t outright ghost me entirely, but still wouldn’t hire me. employers are being pretty picky.

What has worked for you to cope with a shit manager / separate work and life?

TLDR: Seeking your stories and advice here. Note I’m not looking to solve the bad boss problem as much as just hear out how you’ve all managed your frustrations and separated work / life. I won’t need to get into details because, as much as I want to rant, I recognize having a shitty manager and feeling stuck are not at all rare experiences. I’m good with controlling my emotions at work but I am aware that things bother me. Quitting isn’t an option for me at the moment; I’m not drinking any corporate koolaid fuckery to excel and climb the ladder etc etc but this company has actual cool opportunities that go beyond my current role/team and that’s why I’m sticking it out for at least 6 months. But maybe for some context — I work at a large company doing corporate strategy and such. This is a new…
