Awkward interview yesterday

Had an interview yesterday for a support engineer role at a startup in CA. I’m on the east coast. The interview starts off and instantly guy said he has hard cut offs and most likely won’t get through everything…. Know this is a support engineer role to help developers. I am current in a role like that now, I know the general scope of work, I know every company is different. Majority of the questions asked were asking network engineering type questions. Network layers, IPs, etc.. I told the interviewer I’m not a network engineer nor worked in that space so I can try and explain the best I can. I get an email from the recruiter 30 minutes later and says that i did great but they are looking for someone with a different background…..yea you’re looking for someone with both a background in support engineer and network engineering.…

I get an email from the recruiter 30 minutes later and says that i did great but they are looking for someone with a different background…..yea you’re looking for someone with both a background in support engineer and network engineering.

They were asking 3-5 YOE not 10. Don’t mislead people to try and find a unicorn. Hire an actual network engineer and a support engineer.
