So they finally forced me to go to office for two days, I'm already looking at other companies and it will not last but, let me tell you how it is in my case.
Got to the office… Covid check in, do the RAT test… a guy tested positive. They escort him out and wish him all the best. Like what happens now, I mean he was in the office… leaving traces of virus right? Nah ignore that and move on!
I then proceed to spend the next 5-6 hours on Teams! I am talking video calls that involves 4 people in the office, sitting in the 10m radius around me and 2 people online. But because there's always someone who's not in the office now… we have to do video calls. So even with noise cancelling headphones you hear the guy in person who's talking next to you… then delayed sound comes on phones… which makes it extremely annoying.
OK new strategy, let's take a room and 4 of us will talk from there. Nah, the room has one cable to share screen and the voice doesn't come through so we have to go through laptops again. Who's having the mic on? Everyone else mute themselves… and then that fucking echo comes in. Oh sorry… guy says and tries to find mute button. I talk for 5 minutes… someone types in the chat “I could not hear anything”… ok let me repeat that again. Then management comes in “we have this room booked!” and we get kicked out lol.
Next meeting, the big room. Twenty or so people crammed in, looks pretty scary with the pandemic still around us but hey, living the office buzz now! Again one fucking cable so every time someone has to present, get the cable out and plug in the new laptop. Sometimes it doesn't work… oh let me join on Teams then. So again, it's twenty of us in the room… logging to Teams to see what's this all about.
Rinse and repeat whole fucking day.
Back to the office baby!
