So I got called regarding a job offer at a skincare center for the front desk. I only have 11 months experience in another skincare office (the management there was horrible and they eventually decided to go with another company, and as a result they let me and several other co workers go). The recruitment lady called me, and when asking about my pay I let her know I was paid $18/hr for my last position. I was always told to try and go higher, so I told her I was looking for $19-20. Which I now realize was my mistake, I should not have told her I made less at my last job. But she proceeded to say “So you want MORE money at a new office you have no experience in,” over and over again, and she asked me to justify my ask in higher pay. Of course, she is justified in asking this and is not wrong at all, but when I kept trying to explain, she would not listen. I wanted to tell her “Well, clearly it sounds like you’ve already made up your mind. I know what I’m valuable for, so why the fck are you calling me if you’re not interested in hiring me? Stop wasting my time.” She was incredibly rude about it. I know your a recruiter and you have to ask these questions, but she was a btch. Anyone else have these experiences? Should I settle for $18? Her attitude has me scared to ask for more $.
