Bad manager told me that we have work on a holiday when the employee guidebook says differently

I won’t go into detail about it but my manager sucks at being a manager and I know he doesn’t like me. I messaged him with a question about my schedule and mentioned how there is no work next Friday because it’s Veterans day, which is a day that we have off and get paid for since it’s a holiday according to the employee guidebook. Everyone is under the impression that there is no work next Friday and no one’s gonna show up. If it turns out that there really is work next Friday, is that even allowed?? Because it’ll mean they’re suddenly changing what it says in the guidebook and not telling everyone about it. For all he knows I made plans for that day and that could go for every other single coworker I have.
