So I really don't know what I should do next and was hoping maybe some of you here might know if someone has gone through a similar situation. Long story short I finally quit a toxic job after getting a new job. Old boss didn't respond well to getting 2wks notices (lots of other people “quit” because he'd still schedule them after the end of their notice period and essentially ignore it) so I didn't bother and just shut my phone off because I didn't feel like going through it. When I finally turned it on again after a day he was pretty mad (which I get, but I would have told him beforehand if he wouldn't be the way he is about it) and after I pretty much explained why I left the way I did and that I was done, he said I wasn't welcome back on the premises and my last check would be mailed.
I was totally alright with that, I didn't want to go get it, but it's been a week now since checks would have arrived and I live in the same town as the business, so realistically if he put it in the mail Saturday, assuming he didn't Friday, it shouldn't take a week to get across town. In my state, PA, I looked it up and the last check is supposed to be delivered on or before the last pay period, and can be given either in person, by direct deposit, or by mail. I have Informed Delivery through the USPS so every day I get an email with photos of my mail being delivered, and there hasn't been any with my check on it, so it's not like it was stolen either.
Should I continue to wait? Should I confront him about it? If I do, what should I say? I don't want to have to fight for my check, but I will if I have to I suppose because that guy is not going to get away withholding my pay.
