Been up all night over this

So, I recently had an interview at my workplace for a lead position. We recently had a bit of an exodus, and both of our former leads had quit around the same time. I’ve been with the company for over a year, I’ve learned the ins and outs of the job completely, and have consistently been admired for my work ethic and have been called a good candidate for leadership. The other person who had applied for the same position has only been there for 6 months, knows waaaay less about this job than I do, and has openly talked about going on strike, calling OSHA, sabotaging recipes etc. Yesterday near the end of my shift, my manager calls me into the office to update me on the interview, and let’s me know that I did not get the position.

I should note that before applying, I let them know that I would be willing to change my schedule around to be more accommodating if I were to get the lead position. However, my manager still expects me to switch my schedule around to train people on the one aspect of the job only I know.

Well, when I was informed that I didn’t get the promotion, and learned that my coworker who wanted to organize a strike did get it, I put two and two together and realized that I would be the one to train my new lead on how to do the job that I already know how to do. I won’t be getting any pay increase for training them.

I’ve been tossing and turning all night, feeling like I took a huge blow to my self esteem, and I’m going to be sitting down with my manager tomorrow and tell him that I no longer want to overextend myself and I want to keep my schedule the same, even if it means sabotaging my chances at becoming a lead in the future.

Dedication to any company doesn’t mean a damn thing.
