I'm currently working full-time for a campaign, 6 days a week, 10 hour days, where the only real time im not working i have to use going to the gym so i can maintain my physical health.
During our morning meeting, we were told started the 17th, we will only get a day off every other day. This news came out of nowhere, only with a caveat that the union is fighting it, but it doesnt sound like they will win. So I will be working 13 days a row. i would have to double check the month, but that basically means I'm only going to have one other day off until the end of the campaign. I am also only making 16 an hour. I'm non-exempt and get over time but frankly thats not the point.
With the abrupt dropping of this news, I am so enraged that I can't even think clearly enough to write an email and send out the correspondence I need to.
Its for a democratic candidate and its important work, but it is not important enough for me to disrespect myself like this. Especially cause I am priveleged enough to be debt/child free, living with/on my parents while I get a full-time job, I want the money so I can save up for moving out, but I don't need it, and fully expect the 4-5k i would make if i stay to disappear in the process of looking for a full-time job
