being pressured into working 20+ hours a week

i (16f) am a full time student with a casual job. im not the kind of person who is a “workaholic” and will try to work over 15 hours per week, since i dont really spend much money usually and id rather have the time to rest/be with my boyfriend. im also chronically ill and have other medical conditions that usually leave me tired and in pain, i also tend to faint because of one of them. anyway, despite being a marxist my mom gets REALLY irritated that i booked fridays and saturdays off of work to be with my boyfriend, and that i refuse to work 20 hours a week. a while ago i had a friend who was ALWAYS working and falling behind in her classes and constantly tired and my mom always said “she works WAY too much” but she worked 20 hours a week, so if…

anyway, despite being a marxist my mom gets REALLY irritated that i booked fridays and saturdays off of work to be with my boyfriend, and that i refuse to work 20 hours a week. a while ago i had a friend who was ALWAYS working and falling behind in her classes and constantly tired and my mom always said “she works WAY too much” but she worked 20 hours a week, so if she shouldn’t why should i have to?

am i being stupid, or am i in the right? working isn’t really a big deal to me and neither is money. as i said before, i’d rather spend my time being lazy or hanging out with my boyfriend, and have money to occasionally spend and save up, but my mom completely disagrees.

i dont really care for getting hundreds of dollars per week, and i’ll stand my ground on having those days with my boyfriend. she said im going to be mad that i’m “always broke” which isn’t true because when i worked 8-12 hours at my last job i made really good money to save/spend on things i want.
