Hello all,
I was hoping to ask for advice on how to ask for a raise (or if it is too early). For background, I was first hired as an intern for a Senior Living company in May of 2021 and worked through August 2021 before leaving for college. During the winter break, I rejoined as an intern and was allowed to work-from-home (technically work-from-school) until May of 2022. Once I graduated college this past May, they hired me as a full-time salaried 'Purchasing Program Manager' and have worked for this company since then.
We have our semi-annual review this Friday and I thought this may be a good time to ask for a raise (given today's economy and ever-raising costs of living). The thought that is holding me back is that it may be too soon. I was hired first as an intern at $15 an hour (40 hours per week) and when I was promoted, I now have a salary of $45,000 (per year obviously).
When I was given this salary, I did not negotiate for a higher amount because I was 22, broke, and wanted to make money and did not want to ruin this chance. It is a good job, I just wish the pay was higher especially given to the workload that is given to myself and my team. Is now too early to ask? If no, how should I phrase my request? If yes, when is a good time to ask?
TL;DR: Have worked for a company as an intern for ~9 months and as a salaried employee for ~3 months. Semi-annual review is coming up and I want to ask for a raise; is now too early?
