Last year I wanted to take some time off to celebrate getting my B.A. degree. Last real vacation that I had was about a week off in 2018. I did use some of my pto for school, but not a lot and I had a good chunk saved up. When I tried to work out coverage plan she said that I made the choice to use my pto for school, and that her daughter also attended college while going to school.
She claimed that her daughter was able to get her masters done while raising a kid and still working 40 hours a week. Her daughter was getting her masters done at University of Phoenix, at that place you could just write your name with crayon on a piece of paper and still get an A. Also, coworker wasn't working around this time. She took a year off of work because the current boss wasn't letting her get her way. So of course during that time she would be helping out her daughter with childcare, cooking and other household chores.
But of course entitled coworker got to enjoy going to Vegas 5 times, about a week each time from February 2020 to September 2021. I was able to barely get one week off during the summer of 2021. I put my foot down about my plans. Reason being is that I was planning on leaving that place and not sure how much of a wait to take vacation, or if I could take vacation at my new place of work. She still was difficult about it claiming that there was something going on around the time period I choose. Hello, if it was important she should have put in her PTO first. But I think it was bullshit and she just didn't want to cover for me. But I now have a new job. So far a few people have been able to take a week off. I got my week off coming up in August. So glad to be at a place where I can properly plan a vacation and not made to feel guilty about taking PTO. Everyone deserves to take their PTO, not just brown nosing bitches.
