My coworker has to have foot surgery and asked our boss if she could work from home while she recovers. My boss, who is a medical doctor, apparently was very upset by this and insisted that she could live AT the office…she also made sassy comments like “don’t you have a friend you can stay with here in [city]?” Who tf does she think she is?? And why tf does she think her employee would want to live here?? Does she not understand that we have lives outside of work??
I just found out about this conversation hours before I will tell my boss that I’m moving and ask for a remote/hybrid option to work. Also, my boss lives at the office. (Yes, I know this is probably illegal due to zoning—she is very old (85+) and very old-school.) I’m going to go in and tell her I’m moving; if she gives me the same crap, I’m telling her that I’ll be looking for a new job. Just thought this fit in here and needed to rant, lol. Might be time to find a new job!
