Ok, I’ve worked for a company for a few years where everyone knows we are underpaid compared to the market. I was just offered another similar job where my pay will be increased by almost 50 percent and I’ll receive a 10% bonus annually. I accepted and turned in my notice.
In the meantime, another company reached out to me to gauge my interest in similar work, so I asked them what they plan to pay. They would be paying me about 60-65% more than I make now.
This morning, my boss asks to call me to request that I not tell the rest of the team what I’ll be making. I didn’t say I would, but I said another company has floated an even higher number, and he was so shocked he asked me to show him the email. I’ve already decided to not do that until my next job is officially started and I’ve already done my first day. I’m also going to tell the team after I’m officially done at my current job, as long as I can find a way it doesn’t feel braggy.
Any other tips?
