Boss asks about plans outside of work

I work at a small steel fabrication shop that pays really well and usually has a laidback atmosphere. We usually work 4 – 10 hour days per week and have Fridays off. Although overtime is sometimes requested to get a project finished, it’s always been posed as a vague request and not a requirement. So here’s my question: on more than one occasion both boss and supervisor have responded to me declining overtime with something like “oh, we’ll do you have plans?”. Is it just me or is it inappropriate for my boss to ask me what I have going on in my personal life in that manner? I seems like a relatively small issue but it really bothers me. My time outside of work hours is my business and it doesn’t matter if I have actual plans or some event to attend. Am I overreacting here?
