Boss asked me today if I might be interested in a promotion. I asked him if there would be a significant increase in pay. He responded so you'll only be taking this for the money? The conversation went sideways and I reiterated that I would need a significant pay increase. He said he has to go back to his boss for the 2nd time to see what it might be. How should I go about my next interaction with the boss?
Some back story. I am a field service tech. I was hired in off the street with no formal training before being hired 6 years ago. I am now the one of the TOP technicians on my team. I would be put into a lead role with leadship over people who have 20-30 plus years of experience. I would be making less than the people I would be leading?
Boss I guess doesn't understand the concept of someone making less than the person they are suppose to teach and lead. Even though I have been doing the job for 6 years and they have been for 25+. I am still, according to the company metrics and much better technician than the old dogs. Sure let me keep doing the job better for less money….. WTF I'm so ready for the zombie apocalypse. And check out of this society we live in. FML. I give up.
