So my manager gave me an unannounced call (at 12:30!) about how I was getting on with work. He then says he's worried about my time keeping because some things are adding up…
Bear in mind that he's been on leave intermittently and I've been on holiday for more than 2 weeks (that he approved)…
He then proceeds to say a project is taking too long and that he thought it wouldn't take very long. Completely forgetting that he started micro managing it and making me add a lot of unnecessary time consuming parts. He also forgot that my colleague had come up with mini deadlines for each part of the project, which he agreed to and I have been adhering to.
Then he starts to talk about a recent meeting where I was late (he wasn't in this meeting) and he said 'you didn't even send a message”. I did, on my personal mobile to my colleague. Microsoft teams wasn't working at all, so had to restart. I was no more than 8 minutes late. Slander really.
He also says that I've been refusing to go out to site visits. I said I have never done that (!!!??) But he just says, well at least saying you don't want to go, which again never happened. I got asked once which I preferred by a different colleague, computer work or site work. I said computer.
I tried to be diplomatic, because he is usually a nice boss and can be laid back but it felt embarrassing being accused of something I haven't done and not being able to argue back!
Have I done anything wrong here? Should I look to move on in the future…This job was never intended to be a long term one, the training they offered was good. I don't want to leave now as I'm in the middle of another project for a couple months…but I know I can get a higher in a similar job elsewhere.
