Boss Denied my day off on 4th of July after 6 years of never taking off

So I’ve worked at a local fast food establishment in my home town for 6 years. I started their when I was a freshman in high school and I plan to leave the job next year when I’m done at college. I haven’t requested off a day In my life. Now in my employers defense sometimes I got lucky and got off on holidays just out of luck with the scheduling and sometimes I would switch shifts with fellow co workers to work with my schedule. Besides that however I’ve worked my ass off for 6 years starting as a Cashier to fry cook to burger cook to assistant manger to shift leader manager. I’ve never had a great relationship with my boss as he’s always given me the “sleazy car salesman” vibe. Denying me raises and forcing me to come in on my days off and fire employees for…

Denying me raises and forcing me to come in on my days off and fire employees for him since he doesn’t have the stomach for it. However since this is my last year there, as I’m moving out of state with my partner. My mother always throws a big cookout on the 4th of July that I enjoyed when I was a child but unfortunately I’ve missed this cookout for the last 5 years (I was off the 4th of July my first year). I decide that since my boss denied me a raise back in March and I helped him move his family off the clock in January the least he could do was approve my request off seeing as I’ve never once put my name down on the sheet. However two days later our schedule came out and I found I was working 11-9PM. I texted my boss and he ended up calling me saying he had family visiting from over seas and that he wouldn’t get another chance to see them till next year. As one of the two managers I would both have to pick up his weight that day.

I feel like this is kinda BS since this is my last chance to go to this cook out before moving half way across the country. On the other hand my boss is having people over. I don’t know how to feel.
