So we were perpetually short staffed. Co-worker & I were bouncing around the entire state, while also having to come back to put together job spreads for all the crew we had going around the state (about 6 crews)
Packing a spread takes about a day as you have to go through & make sure all the equipment was in service & maybe do some light repairs if not. We were being given 2 hours.
Boss hired some off swing oil rig crew to do the mobilisations 4 guys who were getting a full day per spread (still one spread a day)
Boss called co-worker & I in gave us a serve about how they were way more organised than us. Co-worker blew up & started a shouting match with the boss.
I walked over to the rig crew & said “surprised they could afford you”
one of the guys replied “it's our downtime so we are happy with the going rate”
I asked “did you ask what your rates were?”
He replied “No but the going rate is this”
I replied “Half that” & walked off
The crew marched into the office & asked the boss what they were being paid then when he confirmed quit on the spot.
