I (28f) work as a wildlife biologist for my state (CA). I’ve got about 5 years of experience doing various projects with endangered species, specializing in endangered birds. In my field, it’s common to see seasonal work, usually during the summer. When I was interviewed for my current job in April, I was told to my face that there was year round work available and they needed me for a specific bird project.
It’s been three months and I have yet to be put on that project for bullshit reasons (all reasons have been found to be lies). I find out today that I’m probably not going to have any more work in two weeks.
I can’t afford to move. I’m in serious debt, about 8000$ not including student loans, from moving for jobs. I didn’t think this would happen but I’m heading for financial ruin because of my boss legitimately lying to my face to have me accept a job that’s only four months long. Unemployment won’t pay enough for my bills. There’s no local wildlife work and I’m scared retail won’t pay enough for me to survive. I don’t know what to do. Is there any consequences for lying in interviews?
