I am the stereotypical “good” employee, always on time, do my duties well, and am generally pleasant to work with. Today at work, I was checking people out. I finished a customer and it was time for me to leave. I sign off and let the customer know that the person at the next register can help him. Other guy at register had no one there, customer didn’t mind. My supervisor got prissy and asked me “Are you really not gonna check this dude out??? They said this in a very rude tone”. I just said “nope it’s time for me to leave, other cashier can help him.”. I typically do accommodate my bosses asking me to stay to finish up the line-but my only requirement is that I’m asked to stay nicely and with respect. As I was leaving I heard my boss talking shit about me to other coworkers. Now I feel anxious that I did the wrong thing… or that I’m going to be fired.
