So basically I’ve been working with this company for almost 5 years and have a lower salary than a male colleague with the same position and responsibilities. I also have more outside experience than this colleague and hired him and mentored him. I brought the discrepancy to the attention of my direct manager who does not have the ability to make salary adjustments, so my manager brought it to his boss and his answer was no.
I escalated it to HR, and keep being told I will get a resolution on this soon as it’s “under review” and that I should hear from the person who initially denied my request on a resolution. I was supposed to hear from him on Monday and it’s now Wednesday and still nothing.
Does anyone have any experience filing an equal pay violation with the state/ fed government? I think it’s the only way to get this rectified.
