I'm gonna give some context first:
I started at Dec 2019 in X company with my old team, as a data analyst (with some funtions of data scientist).
Old boss was great in the next points:
– She really care about you, as she used to say I'm not going to inherit this company.
– Listen to your ideas and if they were good enough or with potential let you go with them.
– She never ask about extra time nor going to office if wasn't necessary or too much time without see the team.
Of course she wasn't perfect but a decent human being.
Now fastforward to July 2021 my old boss is leaving (and previously my teammate had leave) the company so i'm alone and since I still not have a lot of experience, they decide to relocate me in another team, with new boss.
Note that this new team is more business analyst profile than data analyst so maybe they have more experience in the analisys itself but definetly no about technical stuff.
This new team is not doing the same funtions as my old team and I still think things could have gone better if it werent for my new boss now (well in fact 1 month ago is when i could think clearly what was going on) im going to bullet key points and red flags with new boss that I couldnt see earlier:
- He wasnt confortable with me using Python bc I was the only one in the team who knows it so If I leave they were screw this was funny at the beginning but as said to him if you think that way you are not thinking about keeping me.
This let to him asking me constantly to use “Infernal Excel” copying and paste more than 5 sheets manually, I was also asked the use of others program not that good for doing my work - Instead of fight for you his favourite phrases were “company policy” or “you know how this company is”. This lead to some fun scenarios, i can add them later if you want.
- He didn't listen well you know he listen me but ended up things as “no no is just better this way”.
- “We are a family”
- He works overtime almost all weeks like 2-3h all days and try that I did the same lol.
I could continue but key points were this and I think you get the idea.
Well I'm a lazy guy but at the end of the day you get your work so in the end of march I got a raise and more than 100% of bonus paid but since I was having a lot of burnouts in my job I tested how “atractive” I was in linkedin (before the review since I wasn't sure if it was going to be good) and even though I only applied for 2 weeks linkedin is showing me to recruiters because I got constant calls almost daily.
Most interviews ended up with them rejections but the same day my gramma had an ictus i got a new job offer.
Here is were he finally shows his true colors:
Grandma had an ictus when I was wfh on monday I just stopped working that day and when I was in the waiting room I let him know about the situation, his reply “oh now dont worry bla bla… do you think team mate can launch this report?…” of course i didnt even reply, he didnt say take next day if you need or something and I know is because I have a lot of proyects only I can do them so I wfh again next day just in case i have to go to hospital he asked about grandma etc.
Well now wednesday I went to office to say im leaving (giving 2 weeks) of course he starts panicking and asked me if necessary please do overtime, yes… jajaja
Next day i was going to go to office but I felt really bad so decided to wft as favor instead of not working.
That day he didnt ask about my grandma and when i told him why I didnt go he just said, “ok, come tomorrow”, not even get better, I was pissed so I said, no the only friday you are going to see me is the last one to left my stuff, also im telling you im not well how are you asking me to go?…
Next day (tuesday) Im going to ask him about having a short chat since he is a nice guy but tend to panick easily and basically telling bad things he had done and also that first Im a human being then a worker you decide how you wanna end things.
Sorry about typos or mistakes since english is not my first language.
