Today I was covering for my co-worker and because I was covering for him, that extended my hours for the week into overtime pay. My boss told me that I would have to clock out two hours before my shift ends and continue working off the clock. He said that my co-worker would pay me out of his pocket for the 2 off the clock hours. My work is spending too much on labor and isn't making a lot of money right now but that's beside the point. I told my boss that what he wants to happen is illegal and he told me it's not. I just let him believe what he wanted to not make an argument. Later my boss tells me that I can actually leave early “because it's slow.” But I know it's because he realized he messed up and he can't own up to his mistake.
