Had my semiannual performance evaluation today. Overall actually went decent but one of the categories I’m graded in is leadership development, which I got a “below expectations on.”
The justification? “Needs to set personal needs aside for organizational strategy.” What this is code for is I asked my boss for a raise a few months ago because I have fallen dramatically behind. Surprisingly I got the raise, but was penalized for it now.
Not entirely sure how my meager raise, which equates to a few thousand dollars, is supposed to impact a multibillion dollar companies strategy so much it shows my leadership development is faltering.
I made sure my boss knew I wasn’t thrilled.
