So I work at a hotel as a housekeeping assistant and my job is to help the housekeepers by providing supplies and sometimes helping clean their rooms. When I go to help clean their rooms I’ll notice often that the housekeeper hasn’t come in the room yet to collect their tip. Usually I’ll hide the tips somewhere only the housekeeper cleaning the room can find it (other people have access to the rooms such as maintenance workers and inspectors and money has been known to go missing) so I try to make sure only the housekeeper will see and get the tip.
So the other day my boss assigned me to clean a good 20 rooms. I did my usual routine, hiding the tips and whatnot, and go about my day. Well the next day my boss calls me into the office to tell me that they went back in the rooms after I cleaned them and noticed the tips missing. Now I’m going to have to get with HR and process my suspension. When I mention that I hid the tips the boss looked pissed and went to go check. Sure enough the tips are there and they recant my suspension but like what the hell? They literally baited me with fake tips to try to set me up to catch me “stealing”. I’m not even sure if that’s legal but it’s still pretty messed up even if it is.
