Let me start off by saying I'm clean. My hair is washed every other day and is kept in a ponytail or bun while I'm at work. And no matter if I get fired or not, I'm not cutting my hair for this asshole or this micromanagement hellscape I work in.
Last week, one of the day shift workers complained about my hair and said it offended him ( Religious Belifes?). I honestly don't know what to say. I have worked here for 15 years and have always been the odd duck at the plant. I'm basically what every Southern conservative hates. Long hair(facial and head), piercings, tattoos, and I dont believe in conventional religion.
I'm 100% prepared to toss this job in the trash if they make me cut my hair. I played the religion card to try and keep from having to cut it. He said he would notify HR and see where it goes from there.
There is nothing in the employee handbook about grooming standards other than you have to look presentable and be in uniform. I work with one other person and never have interactions with the public. And there is no machinery that it could get caught up in if it fell down.
If anyone has some suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thank you for letting me vent.
