I worked as a chef trainee, was there for like three months and then i quit.
We worked 12 hour days, and had one 15 minute break where we would eat the food that I usually cooked for us. One day after working 10 hours with a 15 minute break, all of a sudden i had to take a shit. Unfortunately my bowels didn't time it perfectly, so it was like 2 hours after our break.
I told everybody that I was going to the bathroom to take a dump, and the kitchen chef looked me dead in the eyes and with the most demeaning tone in his voice he straight up asked me 'what are you doing on your break?'. Not shitting i said, and then he shook his head and mercyfully let me go to the bathroom. He was not happy.
A couple of weeks later i was told of for asking the room who would be working that night. Just small talk. A line cook later told me that it was arrogant, and i acted like i was already a chef by asking questions like that. I'm a grown ass man. That's how grown men talk to each other, but they couldn't accept it. They wanted me to act like a gratefull little boy, work my ass off and speak to them like they were kings. I packed up my knifes and got the fuck out of there.
