Bosses hounding at you for no good reason then telling you they appreciate you and you’re a good worker

I've gotten this working over the years in food service. Some bosses don't know how to talk to people. I'm a good worker and I don't give attitude or have any huge flaws. I understand criticism and there were times where I have been stubborn and maybe I deserved it especially when I was 16 and thought I knew everything… Now that I've worked a few years I realized this pattern in some work places. It's absurd how I've been “broken down” to be “built up” it like an abusive relationship
