Boycott the Wonderlic Test

I was called by recruiter for a potential job. You all know how it goes. This particular job would have cut my commute down by 45 minutes each way. It would have provided me with a ~40% pay raise. It also was offering 20% annual bonus (at least, as advertised). Recruiter sent my resume and they replied back that they were interested. With how quick they replied, I assume they were at the very least, “eagerly” interested. Go through the motions and back and forth with the recruiter about interview time and date, pre interview prep, etc.. Great! Then last email he sends is asking me to schedule a time to take the Wonderlic test (requested from the client). Replied within a minute and said: *”If that is a condition for employment then I am not interested. You can withdraw my application if that is the case.”* I've taken it…

I've taken it before. I've “scored” well on it too. I have 20 years in this career. I work at a high level these days doing design, deployment, and management of IT Infrastructure. I have very credible references in this industry.

If my credentials and references aren't enough to employ me, then sorry about your luck.

Boycott the Wonderlic test. It can be studied and “beaten” easily by anyone who cares enough to try anyway. So it's another pointless step in an already archaic process of working too many hours of my life to get too little money in order to eek by and maybe give my family something a little better than “destitute.”

No thanks. Next!
