Business owners who can’t connect the dots that are SO OBVIOUS

I work in a field that requires a very specific skill that can take multiple years to get good at. I see owners of companies in this industry constantly complain about how hard it is to find employees that are reliable, dependable and don't have personal issues that affect their ability to work. They also complain that when they do find an employee that doesn't have any of those issues they leave as soon as they are trained, competent and good. They don't seem to be able to connect the dots that the reason they can't seem to keep these good employees is that THEY DON'T PAY ENOUGH!! Anybody else work in an industry where it seems like the only way to make good money at what you do is to do it for yourself?
