California FMLA Maternity Leave Claim?

A really good friend's wife applied for a position in a different department within the same company she works while on Matenity Leave. The interview went extremely well. At the end she told the interviewer she has still on Maternity Leave and the response she received was, If I knew you were on Maternity Leave I wouldn't of even interviewed you. Am I wrong to think this is 100% discrimination and should not have happened? My main question is how should she write the email to HR? Dear HR, I would like to bring to your attention the discrimination that took place during my interview with DumDum. I feel that I was completely Discriminated against due to being on Maternity Leave. What DumDum said to me during the interview has made me extremely uneasy, as I believe this became DumDum's instant justification to no longer consider me for the position…

Dear HR,

I would like to bring to your attention the discrimination that took place during my interview with DumDum. I feel that I was completely Discriminated against due to being on Maternity Leave. What DumDum said to me during the interview has made me extremely uneasy, as I believe this became DumDum's instant justification to no longer consider me for the position I was applying for.
As a Woman Owned and Operated Business I would think protected rights, such as Maternity Leave would be something that is more embraced, trusted and understood, and not something used to treat someone in an unequal manner.

I would like to know if the company finds these actions discriminatory, and how the company will handle this situation.
