called out because of bad weather

So I'm driving in tovwork this morning in the middle of a bad thunderstorm. I'm having trouble maintaining my lane cause I can't see shit. So I pulled over waited for the rain to break, then texted my boss and went home. I know I'll probably get fired. But I look at it like this. This car is my only asset left… I can't afford to risk losing it or worse hydrolocking my engine for a job that doesn't even pay 100.00/day. If I hit a curb I don't have 3000 for new wheel and tires and suspension repairs. Or 6000 for a replacement engine. I know I made the right decision but I feel guilty about it. Got me thinking that there is something fundamentally wrong with our culture that I'm even second guessing myself or feeling guilty about it… Why isn't bad weather an acceptable reason to call…

Why isn't bad weather an acceptable reason to call out? Anyway I did it.
