i work the graveyard shift at a gas station in AZ. don’t know if it’s like this at other gas stations but the one i work at we’re (the employees) are suppose to card everyone who looks younger than 30 years old and if they come in with someone or a group we’re suppose to card EVERYONE. if one person (1) doesn’t have any ID then i can not sell whatever age restricted item they wanted to purchase. no dates, no photos, and only US cards only. those vertical cards are a nope, horizontal all the way.
it’s very common for me to have to explain this repeatedly that yes, other stores wouldn’t card you but here? we do or at least i do cuz i like my job. i didn’t make the rule, it’s policy. even though you say your friend is 25 or whatever, i don’t know that and i’m definitely not going to risk my job so you can have a good time. yea it sucks that you can serve our country but can’t buy a beer. sure i can call my manager at 1AM so they can tell you the exact same thing. no i mom not going to do you a solid because you’re not worth it.
bottom line, if you’re planning on buying alcohol or tobacco bring your ID. if you have friends that are underage or they don’t have their ID on them, leave them in your car and have them sit tight cuz there’s cameras and we can see you. don’t be a dick and say you’ll come back at another time cuz you’ll be blacklisted…
