Not sure if this is the right sub or not, let me know if i might be better off posting elsewhere.
So basically title, but here is my situation. I interviewed at a company based on recommendation from some family members. I have several uncles cousins and my dad who work for this company. While being interviewed the management mentioned more than a few times that he is concerned because if there is a death in the family or something like that he will lose a significant portion of his workforce.
To set the record straight, all of my family work in specialized technician positions, no forms of management. So nepotism isn't (shouldn't be) an issue. I would be equal to, not above or below any of the people I am related to. I am aware that discrimination based on family name is an illegal thing, but since they have already hired several people with my family name I'm not sure that is anything I can fall back on.
For additional context I live in the US in Missouri.
