The place I work at doesn’t give us breaks for our 5.5 hour closing shifts, and often times will make us stay later and we will end up working a little over 6 hours each night. I live in Tennessee, and it’s against the law for workers to work over 6 hours with no break. I know that it sounds lazy of me to complain about not getting a break for such a short shift, but I have chronic pain and I go home in pain every day because of it, to the point that I’ve started hiding in the bathroom for 15-20 minutes to make my own break.
So my question is, what is the consequence for doing this, if there is one? Is there nothing I can do about it?
