Hello fellow antiworkers! Just wanted to complain for a minute, in case anyone cares to commiserate….
So, I work in a skilled trade in Canada. I've been in my trade for 17 years now, 15 of those as a licensed journeyperson. During my career, I have mostly been an entrepreneur, though during the pandemic, I had to give that up due to financial instability. A couple of months ago, I took on a management role with a company, and at first, things were great… but now?
I hate it. I hate having to manage adults who seemingly hate their jobs. I hate doing the schedule – I can never seem to make everyone happy. And I hate being the scapegoat for when things go wrong.
However, I make better money than I ever have (working for someone else), I'm going to have benefits soon, and I have a decent amount of freedom as manager…
The problem is that if I decide to demote myself to a regular employee, I won't be able to make enough money to live… so I'm stuck with this shitty, stressful job because in my field, I'm sort of limited.
Ugh.
TL/DR: I took a management job, I hate it, but I can't afford to not keep it. Wah wah.
