Long story short I'm going to be managing our companies Facebook page, which ordinarily wouldn't require me to make a Facebook account. BUT because we spend so much money on advertisements through Facebook they require me to “verify my identity” and provide sensitive documentation such as a drivers license picture or Birth certificate to prove I am who I say I am. I quit using Facebook about a decade ago, I do not want Facebook to have this information on me and I have no wish to create an account that has my personal information supplied. I'm begrudgingly making an account just to be able to reply to messages on our account but I have to verify my identity to reply to comments on our page. I am not okay with this, I feel it's a gigantic overstep of my personal identity and life outside of work to create an account that others can view outside of our work circle. For reference I do not use any mainstream social media platform (except reddit if you count that) and do so because of my own personal beliefs.
