I got a new job that requires a background check/doctor visit as a condition of hire, and my new employer said the company will not reimburse me as these requirements are given by the state rather than the company. It will cost me a significant amount, and I'll do it because I need a job, but I didn't realize this was something employers were able to do. I'm in North Carolina if that helps
