Can my Employer Sue me for financial damage/hardship for quitting abruptly?

I'm an accountant who controls many financial elements at my current job : ( including payroll for 200+ employees CONUS and OCONUS, Balance sheet/ Income statements, Bank recons, Audits etc) The pay has been very generous, but stress has been piling up, not to mention the incompetent/petty HR team and weak management. As things stand right now, if I leave, no one will be able to pick back up at moments notice, let alone to sort the potential mess of of not being able to process payroll, and possible lawsuits /department of labor violations for not paying on time. My employment is at will, and so is my state. Part of me is worried about the implications, the other just don't wanna show up. Thoughts?
